FREQUENTLY ASKED
What Is Broadloom Carpet?
Broadloom carpet is carpet manufactured in large rolls and installed wall-to-wall. Unlike carpet tiles, it creates a more continuous and seamless appearance, making it popular for hotels, offices, bedrooms, lounges and other areas where comfort and appearance are important.
Broadloom Carpet Is Best For?
- Hotels
- Luxury Offices
- Meeting Rooms
- Lounges
- Spaces where a seamless, wall-to-wall carpet appearance is preferred
- Ideal for added comfort, as a soft underlay can be installed beneath the carpet for a more cushioned and comfortable underfoot feel
Broadloom Carpet Is Not Suitable For?
- Wet areas like kitchens
- Bathrooms
- Balconies
- Anywhere exposed to weather or damp slabs.
- For humid or ground-floor rooms, SPC flooring is the better choice.
- For locations where individual sections may need frequent replacement, carpet tiles may be a more practical option.
Broadloom Carpet vs Carpet Tiles?
Broadloom carpet provides a more continuous, luxurious wall-to-wall appearance with fewer visible joints. Carpet tiles are modular, making individual damaged or stained pieces easier to replace. Broadloom is generally preferred for comfort and seamless appearance, while carpet tiles are preferred for practicality and easier maintenance.
Does Broadloom Carpet Require Underlay?
It depends on the carpet type and installation method. An appropriate underlay can improve underfoot comfort, sound absorption and overall performance. Our team can recommend the suitable installation system based on the selected carpet and site conditions.
Can Broadloom Carpet Be Installed Over Existing Flooring?
In many cases, yes, provided the existing flooring is firm, dry, level and suitable for installation. Uneven or damaged surfaces may require rectification before installation. Final suitability will be determined based on the actual site condition.
Will There Be Visible Joint Lines or Seams?
For areas wider than the carpet roll width or with irregular layouts, joining may be required. Our installers will plan the carpet layout to minimise the visibility of seams, but completely invisible joints cannot always be guaranteed.
Can Damaged Broadloom Carpet Be Replaced Individually?
Unlike carpet tiles, broadloom carpet cannot normally be replaced one piece at a time without creating visible joints. Depending on the damage, professional cleaning, patching or replacement of a larger section may be required.
How Do I Clean and Maintain Broadloom Carpet?
Regular vacuuming is recommended to remove dust and dirt. Spills should be cleaned promptly, while periodic professional carpet cleaning can help maintain the carpet’s appearance and extend its usable life.
Do You Provide Site Measurement?
Yes. We provide professional site measurement to ensure accurate quantities and quotation. A RM100 measurement fee applies and will be fully credited towards your initial deposit when you proceed with us.
Why Is Wastage Required?
Additional flooring is required for cutting and fitting during installation. We typically allow approximately 5% wastage for standard layouts, while more complex layouts may require a higher allowance.
Why Is Wastage Important When Comparing Quotations?
A lower price per sqft does not always mean a lower final cost. A quotation with a lower rate but significantly higher wastage may result in a higher total amount.
Always compare the total flooring quantity and final payable amount, not just the price per sqft.
At Citra Aladdin, wastage is calculated according to the actual site layout and installation requirements to avoid unnecessary material costs.
Does Carpet Flooring Come With a Warranty?
Yes. Our carpet flooring comes with a Warranty, covering manufacturing defects and installation workmanship, subject to our warranty terms and conditions.
Please note that damage caused by water leakage, subfloor moisture, uneven flooring, improper use, or external factors is not covered under the warranty.
